Why Choose Psychology as a Career ?

The obvious answer is “Choose Psychology because you love it.” Though this statement is very apt, but it often confuses students. How do you expect a student to love or like psychology as a subject when they were never exposed to a subject similar to Psychology during their schooling.  Thus, there is a need to explain the nature of course and future prospects of Psychology.

According to Wikipedia “Psychology is the science of behavior and mental processes.” A person who studies psychology is called a Psychologist. A Psychologist studies the behavior of individuals and groups based on basic psychology and research specific cases, if traditional methods fail. This establishes the fact that psychological service is more of a social work and is done for understanding the mental processes of individuals and social groups. They take a note of attention, cognition, personality, motivation, emotions, etc. There are numerous other complex factors a Psychologist explores. He even studies the neurological aspects of the problem.
